Our voice has the potential to express our inner thoughts and feelings. It is the vehicle which directly connects us to our audience.
This makes our voice one of the most powerful tools for communicating that we possess. It can help us to:
- Influence and Impact
- Excite and Exhort
- Command and Convince
The voice should not be taken for granted. Actors know this very well, they know they cannot give a good performance, and connect with their audience if their voice is not serving them well. So in training they undergo a programme that enables them to use their voice with maximum impact and flexibility.
Our theatre background enables us to successfully adapt the programmes and exercises that actor’s use in training, for the corporate sector.
Voice work is not an indulgence, if your voice doesn’t work for you, it can work against you, blocking you from having the impact and influence your job role requires of you, and from achieving your aims and objectives.
There are many variables to the human voice including volume control, vocal quality, pitch and range patterns, voice sessions will help you to become aware of these qualities, develop balance and manipulate them and improve your vocal presentation.
Voice work in the corporate sector can be done in groups as part of a training programme, or as part of an executive coaching programme.
The more options the speaker has available within their voice, the more expressive they will become and the greater the impact with the audience.
“I was rather nervous as I consider myself an introvert and don’t like public speaking, but I found this voice session really helpful. I found the section on breathing to be very insightful; breathing affects everything.” – Line Manager O2
Secondly, I am much more aware of the way that I am using my voice. I have also learned the first steps in moderating and adjusting my voice to the different settings – large groups, speaking as a leader, small groups as a team member, one on one settings.” – Marc DELIGNAT: eBay
