This is true whether you are leading or facilitating a meeting. You need to control the agenda in such a way that everyone feels able to voice their opinion.
Good Meeting Management requires well honed skills in both
- Receptive Communication – listening and observing to ensure you understand what is going on around you, and
- Expressive Communication – using voice and body language to ensure you, your voice and your views are heard.
Acquiring both these skills-sets will help you to balance authority with empathy, give direction but be inclusive.
