Case Study: L’Oreal HR Panorama Day
L’Oreal is one our regular clients. Since 2003 we have run a Communications Course for their graduates, and coached members of their senior team. As our relationship has developed, we are asked to create courses or events to cater for the training needs of specific groups within the company.
In December 2011, HR Director asked us to create a training event that would fast-track the entire HR team through a series of Communication techniques that they could use in all aspects of their work.
The goal of this HR Panorama Day was for the HR team to start 2012 by learning new skills and putting them into practice. We devised six separate events, each teaching a specific skill. These were:
- Leadership skills especially for Project Managers
- Running meetings effectively: managing debate, driving the discussion
- Strategic and creative thinking
- Translating ideas into action
- Developing time- & priority-management
- Enhancing self-understanding
Whilst each event was complete in itself, the skills they taught were complementary, compatible and interdependent.
We divided the cohort of 36 HR personnel into 6 groups of 6. Each group was diverse in the nature of their specialisms, their seniority, experience and skill level.
We timetabled the day so that each group would move from event to event.
At the end the day, we brought the entire cohort of 36 together for a theatre-style event in which everyone had a chance to apply their new skills and also entertain the others.
